Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy meets with US President Joe Biden at The White House

At the White House President Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a unified front against Russian aggression. Mr. Biden announced the U.S. will send additional military help worth billions of dollars to reinforce Ukrainian forces and fend off Russian attacks.

The American president pledged his continued support for Ukraine during a press conference and condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure as the bitter winter weather comes in.

He asserted that it is important to understand that Russia is deliberately attacking Ukraine’s vital infrastructure and eradicating the systems that keep its citizens warm and lit during the year’s darkest and coldest months. Winter is being used as a weapon by Russia.

Zelenskyy stressed that we share the same principles when asked what message he has for the people of America. He continued by saying that “We actually struggle for our shared victory against this tyranny. That is actual life. And we’ll triumph. And I sincerely hope we succeed together”. President Zelenskyy spoke in both Ukrainian and English at various points.

In the 300 days since the Russian invasion began, Zelenskyy’s journey to Washington was his first known travel outside of Ukraine. President Biden extended the red carpet to his counterpart from Ukraine, who was dressed in the by-now-standard ensemble of an olive-green sweater, cargo pants, and boots. The two met in the Oval Office first, where Mr. Biden declared that the United States stands with the admirable citizens of Ukraine and praised Zelenskyy as a brilliant leader.
