Tech Council of Australia CEO Kate Pounder says the recent hacking of Medibank data is a “wake-up call for us as a nation”.
“We know that we are a target for cyber security attacks. We’re a relatively wealthy country,” Ms Pounder told Sky News Australia.
She said Australia’s cyber security defences are “not where they need to be”.
Taking data governance “seriously” is something all people need to start doing, Ms Pounder said.
