Queensland Landmarks Lit Up In Tribute To Police Officers Killed In Wieambilla

Queensland landmarks have lit up in tribute to the young police officers gunned down in cold blood in Wieambilla, west of Brisbane.

As Queensland grieves the deaths of two police officers who were shot on a Darling Downs property on Monday afternoon, landmarks all throughout the state lit up in blue. Constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow were slain while investigating a report of a missing person at a Wieambilla farm.

Police are supporting Constables Randall Kirk and Keely Brough after they managed to escape the same shooting unharmed. Hours later, on the property, brothers Nathaniel and Gareth Train, together with Gareth’s wife Stacey, were killed in a gunfight with police. Before the shooters could be stopped by special operations police, an innocent neighbour named Alan Dare also died.

Overnight, mourners gathered in towns all throughout Queensland to honour the dead officers.
