Reading levels among Australian Year 9 boys have plummeted to record lows, the latest NAPLAN results have shown. The 2022 NAPLAN results showed COVID-19 disruptions didn’t have a huge impact on student learning but an overall decline in participation rates has experts worried. The most concerning results were in Year 9 boys where 13.5 per cent didn’t achieve the National Minimum Standard for reading.
