Man shot dead by police in Brisbane’s north after reportedly lunging at officers with knife

Police have shot and killed a man on a Grange street on Sunday afternoon after he reportedly lunged at them with a knife. They were responding to a domestic violence call where they found the man’s father suffering wounds.

The deceased was identified as a First Nations man from Queensland. According to police reports, they were responding to a domestic violence related incident when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses reported hearing several loud bangs before seeing the man on the ground. A major crime scene was declared at the home shortly afterwards.

The mother of the deceased uttered four heartbreaking words when she arrived at the scene: “They shot my son”.
