Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the reason the fuel excise relief will finish tomorrow “is because it would cost about $3 billion for every six months of extension”.
“We’re being upfront with people about that – we know that’s a difficult decision,” he said during parliamentary Question Time on Tuesday afternoon.
