The Flinders Shire Council is selling land in the outback region at historically cheap prices, bringing the Australian ideal of owning your own home to everyone. In order to promote population and economic growth in the Shire, Council is reversing the national trend of record home price increases by making 48 affordable blocks of land available for purchase in the townships of Hughenden, Prairie, and Torrens Creek. The dirt-cheap blocks of land – ranging from 809sqm to 1.303 hectares have been listed for auction with a reserve price of just $9.
The flat, sizable parcels of land, which range in size from 809 square metres to 1.303 hectares, will be offered for sale at auctions starting at under $10.00 online by Grays.com between February 10 and February 13, 2023.
In addition, the Council will make housing grants of $5,000 available to qualified candidates, in addition to any other grants that prospective home buyers might be qualified for from the State and Commonwealth governments. The blocks will fit a variety of people looking to take advantage of affordable land and housing options in a thriving region, according to Jane McNamara, mayor of the Flinders Shire Council.
The 48 blocks of land up for sale, according to the mayor, present a fantastic chance for individuals to engage in the construction of affordable housing. These plots of land will fit you whether you’re planning to retire and need a cheap base for travelling, you’re young and trying to buy your first home, you have a young family, or you’re an investor seeking excellent returns on your investments.
The blocks are adjacent to supermarkets, medical and aged care services, three schools, a recreational lake, an early learning centre, parks, and a community swimming pool. They are also level and serviced, making building simpler and less expensive.
You will be able to take advantage of the expansive, open spaces that the area has to offer thanks to the enormous size of the blocks. Charters Towers and Townsville are both conveniently close to the Flinders Shire. There won’t be many places in Australia where you can get a better value.
The land sales are a component of Flinders Shire Council’s pledge to encourage an expansion in the region’s housing supply in order to boost labour attraction and retention.
Flinders Shire
The rental and housing market in the region is booming, with demand driven by a diverse mix of factors. Supported by the Queensland Government’s $62 billion Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, the area has been identified as a renewable energy hub – creating new and exciting opportunities for businesses and the local population. Further job creation is expected through the pipeline of major projects, including Flinders Magic grape farm, CopperString, Windlab stage 2.0, Mount James Wind Farm and the North West Minerals Province. The importance of established livestock and agricultural businesses, plus their supporting service industry cannot be understated – remaining a key economic driver in the region. Tourism is also increasing by record numbers – thanks to new attractions combined with better access from major cities. Add to this, there has been an influx of innovative new businesses to the region due to its growing economic activity – further promoting an encouraging environment that welcomes investment and growth in rental and housing demand.
Rental and housing demand in the region is being driven by a number of factors including:
- a renewable energy hub, supported by the Queensland Government’s $62 billion Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan
- manufacturing and transport
- a pipeline of major projects such as Flinders Magic grape farm, CopperString, Windlab stage 2.0, Mount James Wind Farm, and the North West Minerals Province
- established cattle and agricultural businesses and the supporting service industry
- huge tourism growth
- economic activity within the region
- record number of new businesses.
According to Cr. McNamara, there are numerous opportunities for a tiny community with new growth prospects. Traditional sectors in the shire, such cattle, rail, transportation, and tourism, as well as emerging ones, like renewable energy, both offer promising growth potential.
Investment in the Flinders Shire is a particularly alluring possibility for both house purchasers and rental investors due to the price of property, career opportunities in these industries, and the lifestyle our region has to offer.
