Emergency alert as rain bomb triggers mudslides

Parts of Queensland remain in the middle of a weather emergency, with rain heavy of up to 500mm is expected as mud slides, inundated roads and highways have been reported across the state. Emergency warnings are currently in place along the Pioneer River, with Mackay currently in the firing line, set to peak at 7am AEST.

Parts of Queensland are facing a perilous weather emergency, with reports of mud slides, flooding roads and highways. Rainfall has been incredibly heavy in some areas with up to 500mm expected. This has led to emergency warnings for the Pioneer River, with Mackay particularly at risk, peaking this morning at 7am AEST. All nearby residents have been warned to be extremely cautious and remain vigilant as emergency service workers take all necessary measures to sustain safety and well being in the area. This is a very serious situation that should not be taken lightly by anyone affected and it’s important we all do what we can to help those in need.
