Discarded oyster shells turned into Moreton Bay reef restoration project

It’s the ultimate recycling program: eat oysters and help clean up Moreton Bay. The Moreton Bay region of Queensland, Australia is home to a variety of marine life, including oysters. Unfortunately, the discarded shells from these oysters are often thrown away and end up in landfills or other areas where they can cause environmental damage. Fortunately, there is a way to help restore the health of the bay by recycling these shells and turning them into a reef restoration project.

These efforts are helping to restore the health of Moreton Bay by creating new habitats for marine life while also reducing waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or other areas where it could cause environmental damage. Through these initiatives, we can ensure that our oceans are healthy and thriving for generations to come.
