Crocodile attacks tourist Allister McPhee at Bloomfield River, Queensland

 

A tourist has survived being grabbed by a crocodile in Far North Queensland and incredibly, 7NEWS can show you his footage as he filmed himself being attacked. Allister McPhee was taking his dog into the Bloomfield River, north of Cairns, when the large reptile launched at them in the shallows.

On Wednesday, February 24th, 2023, Allister McPhee experienced a terrifying encounter with a crocodile at the Bloomfield River in Far North Queensland.

McPhee had been wading into the river knee-height when he and his beloved rottweiler were suddenly attacked by the saltwater croc. In an incredible turn of events, footage of the attack was captured on film.

The 37-year-old was bitten on the leg by the crocodile and rushed to hospital for surgery. His canine companion sadly did not survive the attack. In a rare occurrence, McPhee was able to fight off the crocodile with his bare hands before it could do any further damage. He is now recovering from his injuries in hospital.

This incident serves as a reminder that we must always be aware of our surroundings when near bodies of water in Australia’s tropical regions, as these areas are home to many dangerous creatures such as crocodiles and snakes.
