Churches vandalised in ‘act of violence’

Two separated churches at Albury in New South Wales have been vandalised, with those responsible smashing religious statues, stealing goods and leaving offensive graffiti in what has been described as an act of violence.

Just weeks away from Christmas, a number of magnificent stone statues belonging to two historic churches have been damaged. The perpetrators struck St Matthew’s and St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Albury, that are 170 and 140 years old respectively, decapitating tributes to St Francis of Assisi, The Virgin Mary as well as angels on Tuesday.
