A treehouse, edible garden, and adventure course – that’s the future for Victoria Park. Brisbane City Council has revealed final plans for the $141 million revitalisation. As other South East Queensland councils also spend big on green spaces. Brisbane City Council has revealed its final plans for the $141 million revitalisation of Victoria Park, located north of the CBD. The 64 hectare parkland will be transformed into an urban forest with a towering treehouse lookout, water play gully for both children and adults, a high-ropes adventure course, wetlands, an edible garden and bike and walking tracks.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said “The new Victoria Park/Barrambin Master Plan is about rewilding our city – creating a green oasis that will bring people together to connect with nature in the heart of Brisbane”.
The plan also includes a cafe, picnic areas and outdoor fitness equipment. It is part of the council’s commitment to create more green spaces across South East Queensland as well as help combat climate change.
The project is expected to take five years to complete and will be funded by Brisbane City Council as well as state and federal governments.
Victoria Park/Barrambin is open for Brisbane residents and visitors to explore and is a natural retreat and urban park for adventure, discovery and relaxation.
