The season’s first tray of mangoes has just gone under the hammer at the Brisbane Markets this morning. The annual mango auction marks the start of the season, with this year’s produce one of the best yet thanks to the rain. Fruit shop owners have gone head to head for two decades for the first tray, with the highest bidder crowned the Mango Monarch. The money raised from this year’s auction will support children’s cancer charity Redkite and the Lady Musgrave Trust.
