Samsung’s latest tech gadgets

The ‘Galaxy Ring’, a piece of high-tech jewellery that can track users health by monitoring their heart rate and sleep cycle is among the unveiled products.

Following the successful launch of its AI-centric Galaxy S24 smartphone range in January, Samsung has unveiled a new lineup of devices, with a strong focus on its Galaxy AI technology.

At its Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, the tech giant showcased the latest versions of its innovative Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones, both optimized with AI to take full advantage of their foldable designs.

In addition to these new devices, Samsung announced plans to integrate Galaxy AI across its entire portfolio of new products. The company also finally revealed its highly anticipated Galaxy Ring, alongside the Galaxy Watch7 and two brand-new products, further expanding its AI-driven ecosystem.

Galaxy Watch 7

Samsung has upgraded the Galaxy Watch 7 with advanced Galaxy AI and several new features to provide a deeper understanding of your health. Users can now track over 100 workouts and combine various exercises to build personalized routines using the new Workout Routine feature. This innovative feature allows you to compare your current performance with your past achievements in real-time, helping you stay motivated to reach your fitness goals.

The Galaxy Watch 7 also features Body Composition, which provides a comprehensive snapshot of your body and fitness levels, giving you a better understanding of your overall health. Additionally, the watch includes advanced health monitoring features, such as heart rate monitoring, Electrocardiogram (ECG), and blood pressure monitoring. The enhanced bioactive sensor ensures even greater accuracy in these readings.

The device is powered by a 3Nm processor, which boasts a 3x faster CPU and a 30% improvement in power efficiency. This means you can enjoy a seamless and efficient user experience. Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 7 features a dual-frequency GPS system, allowing for more precise location tracking, even in urban environments.

The Galaxy Watch 7 also brings several Galaxy AI features to your wrist. For instance, Suggested Replies offers suitable responses based on the conversation, making it easier to respond to messages. Additionally, the new Double Pinch gestures enable you to control your Galaxy Watch and connected Galaxy smartphone with ease, even when your hands are full.

Galaxy Watch Ultra

Samsung Takes Wearable Technology to New Heights with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Building upon the advanced health monitoring features and technology of the Galaxy Watch 7, Samsung has pushed the boundaries even further with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. This latest addition to the Galaxy Watch portfolio is not only the most powerful but also boasts an impressive 47mm screen and enhanced outdoor durability, thanks to its Titanium Grade 4 frame and 10ATM water resistance.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is designed to keep up with even the most extreme fitness enthusiasts, operating at a wider range of altitudes to track activities such as swimming in the ocean and cycling in intense environments. This device can track multi-course workouts and even measures your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cycling, accurately determining your maximum cycling power in just four minutes. Furthermore, it can work out your personalized HR zone to optimize your workout intensity levels based on your physical capabilities.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra also features a new Quick Button, allowing you to instantly initiate control of your workouts and map other functions to suit your needs. Additionally, it includes an emergency siren for safety and automatically switches to Night Mode in the dark, providing easier readability without affecting your night vision.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra will be available in three sleek colors: Titanium Grey, Titanium White, and Titanium Silver. Both the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will be the first Android smartwatches powered by Wear OS 5, offering advanced performance and power efficiency.

Galaxy Ring

Samsung’s worst-kept secret is finally official, but Aussies will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on it. While the Galaxy Ring is set to launch in the US on July 24, no Australian release date was officially announced at today’s Unpacked event. According to a Samsung representative, the company hopes to make the Galaxy Ring available in Australia by the end of 2024.

The finger-based health tracker will come in nine different sizes (ranging from ring sizes 5 to 13) and three colour options: Black, Silver, and Gold. The Gold option is the standout, but after a quick hands-on, it appears that the Black option is the least prone to obvious smudges.

Priced at US$400, the Galaxy Ring isn’t cheap, but unlike the Oura Ring Gen 3, it doesn’t require a subscription to use. In addition to its range of health tracking and sleep tools, the Galaxy Ring supports a finger-tap gesture (when paired with a Galaxy Watch or phone) to take photos or turn off alarms. It also boasts 10ATM of water resistance, an IP68 rating, and a battery life of up to seven days on a single charge.
