East Brisbane State School parents and students protest Gabba redevelopment | 7NEWS

Parents and students have gathered outside East Brisbane State School to protest plans to rebuild the Gabba for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Greens have threatened to use their balance of power in the Senate to stop the project going ahead. Federal MP for Griffith, Max Chandler-Mather, Queensland MP for South Brisbane, Amy MacMahon and Councillor for the Gabba Ward, Jonathan Sriranganathan spoke at the protest on Wellington Road, Woolloongabba.

“We are investigating the possibility of using our power at a federal level to stop any public, federal money going towards the Gabba stadium project because we want to stand on the side of teachers, parents and students, and not on the side of wasting $2 billion on a two-week sporting event. – Griffith MP, Max Chandler-Mather.
